The Big Country Homeowners’ Association (HOA) welcomes you to a new source of information about your neighborhood and surrounding area. Big Country is a single family home community which was established in 1986. We are conveniently located in West Bexar county at US HWY 90 and Anderson Loop 1604.
We offer many amenities in a professionally managed setting. On these pages you will find information about the various events and organizations that call Big Country home.
An HOA or Homeowner Association is a legal entity created to manage and maintain the common areas of a community. The "common area" includes a pool with a 9 foot deep end, a baby pool, clubhouse, lighted basketball & tennis courts and a childrens park. Look for upgrades to our facilities in 2014 approved at our 2013 Annual Member meeting. These will include completely refurbishing & moving the playscape to the front of the park for better visibility and safety. Replacing the gravel base with safer rubber chips.
Creation of a new bbq/picnic area in the park where the playscape was located. And adding two huge ceder and aluminum pavilions tp the pool area. One will replace the old one we have and double its size to a spacious 20' X 40'. The other, located across the pool will be 10' X 22'. New large 8' picnic tables will increase shaded seating from about 24 to over 70 people.
Most of our member homeowners bought in the area for it's more secluded location away form the busy economic centers like Potranco/1604 and Marbach/410 locations. In the past 18 months we have been seeing some useful development in the Big Country area such as a large capacity service station with fast food and retail store, a Family Dollar store and under construction a Dollar General store. These are useful and convenient for our neighbors with out the drawback of vehicular congestion.
Our HOA was setup by multiple developers and legal documents called "Declaration of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions" otherwise known as "CC&Rs". One of the primary functions of the HOA is enforce and ensure that these "CC&Rs" are adhered to by the individual homeowners. The guiding principals of these regulations are normally to help maintain property values and the quality of life within the community.
We encourage you to get to know your neighbors and become involved in keeping our community a wonderful place to live. There are many opportunities to be involved in one or more of our many events and activities. We are always interested in helping expand our events and organizations. Womens Club, Game Club...what's your interest? Let us know and we will see if we can help you get started.
